How long does it take for a design to be completed?
It depends on the scale of the job as there is a big difference
between a 4 page template based site saying "hi, we are here"
and a 30 page bespoke site, where the client wants precise requirements
expressed through every aspect, such as choice of font, use of Flash,
inclusion of movies and adherence to corporate graphics and copy for example.

Does it matter we are miles apart?
All can be done via the telephone, email, web cam and internet, so face to face
is no longer necessary. Even large digital files can be exchanged with online
services such as getdropbox which is easily set up on Mac or PC.

Do I need a database driven site?
If you have many items whose details needs changing often,
then yes probably, as such a site reduces the work needed
to update these items manually and individually.
A few items can be updated by me when required, or i can pass over content management to you to help you take over these updates. After the site is initially finished, you can take control yourself and web content management systems enable this.

Why do I need updates or mainenance?
A website should not stay the same, but change to hold interest or to compete with other sites if your are in business. This can mean changing images, movies, music, text or other content, or even restructering of pages or the whole site, though the latter is best avoided without good reaon, as links and bookmarks to your pages may become invalid.
Websites can go down, links can become dead-ends, new browsers are developed, new technologies can be of use to us and the competition can be hot on our heels.
Of course this can mean ongoing work for me, but I offer no obstructions to you taking over the site yourself or with the help of others as your knowledge grows.
